It is not strange though that here was shot the film Captain Corelli’s Mandolin and to tell the truth gave me the idea to spend my vacation on Kefalonia. Drink also local wine robola, it will make your heart sing… and I think your husband also!!!
My eyes have never seen before so much green and blue altogether as in Kefalonia! A remarkably clean island and I was given the chance to try beauty mask made of argilus that my children gathered from the cliffs on the beach in Katelios. Above us was the mountain Ainos and a local granny said to us that on the crown of it there are wild horses. I did not spot them by I was lucky enough to see a strange phenomenon that is very common though among locals.
Also everyone goes on kefalonia have to go to Oskars restaurant for the best Kefalonian meat pie and Rabbit stifado.
The best thing with Kefalonia was the beaches!!!You find there all kind of beaces: rocky, sandy, remote, busy, with beach bars or nothing and each one is great and uinique. No need to talk about Myrtos, who doesn’t know this gorgeous beach?
However, there are many others in Kefalonia than Myrtos, Antisamos, Emblisi, Poros, Kaminia, Xi, Koroni, Megali Ammos…
Do not waste your time with buses. You will lose most of the day packed and waiting under the hot sun. Rent a car and make the tour of Kefalonia. If you book early, car rentals are really cheap. Of course, I booked three months earlier, but so did I with the air tickets and the Oskars studios Lassi only 5 min walk from the beach which was the bets I ever staid.
Eat a lot and swim as much as you can. The prices are a bargain here compared to other Ionian islands, like Corfu or Zante. Four people we never paid more than 50-60 euros for a meal. Argostoli, the capital, was nice for an evening walk but too busy.
Skala was too turisty, Lixouri was fairly nice, but the best village for more was Fiskardo. It was certainly the most busy village in Kefalonia and very expensive but so nice with all these colours, the narrow paths and the port with the yacths.Ohhh, I miss Kefalonia so much!! Certainly will go back in September this summer.
A clean and friendly island blessed with a breathtakingly beautiful landscape of lush forests, high cliffs, and cerulean seas. This is what greeted me on arrival at the island of Kefalonia. The towns on the island are rather small and easy to get round, although, most of them have lost their authentic look to modern concrete constructions after being devastated by an earthquake in 1953. I stayed in Lourdas but made the tour of the island with a rental car.
Argostoli was nice for the big square.
From Argostoli, we went north to Fiscardo, a lovely village with colourful walls, nice port but long from the rest of Kefalonia (It took a bit less than 2 hours to go from Argostoli to Fiscardo and got lost a couple of times on the way).Beaches in Kefalonia are amazing all over, no to miss are Myrtos, Xi and Lourdas. In the taverns I tasted the best local meat pie and also nicest moussaka was at Oskars on the Fanari road in Lassi.
I recommend Oskars as the best place to visit, very good family, best food, good atmosphere.

For the best food at Kefalonia go to Oskars. We were here 8 days and eat every evening at Oskars. Good service, good price and nice entertaining. Go there and you find out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For a relaxed, enjoyable holiday in a stunning setting, I would definitely recommend Kefalonia and Oskars studios.
The island it self is completely beautiful and unspoilt, I had never been to such a lovely holiday destination. The views are amazing. We went on the discover Kefalonia tour and also the evening trip to Sami and really enjoyed both of them. Lassi it self is quite small, it is mainly a strip resort, the restaurants were really nice however and we had plenty of choice of where to eat, we would definitely recommend Oskars on the fanari road, as they do traditional Greek dancing three nights a week with professional dancers and four nights a week traditional Greek dancing with waiters which both gave the place a great atmosphere.
See you soon!
