Sunshine everyday while we were there in June 2013, this was about our 20th visit, the only time that we had any rain was when we went in September.
If you like a quiet time with good food we would recommend that a visit OSKARS restaurant is not to be missed.
Great times when we have been here.
Would recommend hiring a car to get the best from your holiday here, driving round the island is easy and traffic is fairly light.
Some brilliant places to visit, including Poros, Agia Kyriaki Agia Efimia, Myrtos, Sami and other villages.
We stayed in Assos for 1 night on our arrival, the location of the accommodation was lovely, fantastic views, unfortunately pension needed a little updating, especially the bathroom! The rest of our stay was in Lassi on the Fanari road at Oskars studios which was lovely, owned by a very nice family (Andreas, Roza Kostas, Makis and Yiannis), very hospitable. The views are to die for and very near to the beach!
The whole island is so beautiful, the people are a delight, no wonder we keep going back year after year!
For all those who plan to travel to Kefalonia it might be useful to know that Kefalonia has a perfect position to travel a little bit around and to visit neighbors islands. There are several local travel agincies that offer one day trips to Ithaka, Lefkada, Scorpio, Meganissi, but only one of them organizes a trip to Zante. So I’m using this opportunity to recommend to all of you Avalon Kefalonia Travel Services. They are highly professional, have a great guides, and it was a real pleasure to travel around with them.
Once on island don’t miss to visit Assos, beautiful picturesque village with special atmosphere, for me it was more impressive than Fiscardo, and of course Melissani Lake and Mytros beach. Argostoli is a nice little town worth seeing, but all beautiful sandy beaches in this part of island are at Lassi, so it might be a perfect combination to stay in Lassi and go to Argostoli by night.Don’t miss to pay a visit at Oskars restaurant for a meal it is the best on the island.
If you want to go to Paliki peninsula, there is a regular ferry service between Argostoli and Lixuri.
Of course once on island don’t miss to try their famous Robola wine.
If you plan to visit Kefalonia, you might be interested to know that it combines relaxation and crazy nightlife. My friends had booked a room in Lassi a beautiful area, close to the beaches, the town and the airport. It was the ideal choice for us, calm and unspoilt. Along the beach, there were nice taverns.
The beaches are surely the attractions of Kefalonia, like Myrtos and AntiSami, which are the island’s most stunning areas. In the third position, I put Skala and then Lourdas. Skala is a lovely place but very touristy. We mostly enjoyed the food in Kefalonia, which was good in most taverns we visited and especially at Oskars on the Fanari road in Lassi , where we had our best meal.
We didn’t really look for clubs except from some little bars in Lassi with modern music and relaxing atmosphere. The next time which I hope will be soon, I plan to stay in Lassi again but we will try to get a room at Oskars studios which the look perfect. Also the island is ideal for adventurous holidays, we even tried some hiking and I loved it.
Love the web pages on Kefalonia. We go to the Greek islands every year. Went to Kefalonia last year and enjoyed it so much we are going back this year, same place. Best Greek island we have been on. Can recommend eating at Oskars restaurant & Amvrosia restaurant. All lovely people.
Kefalonia not as expensive as we were told
We got back from Kefalonia two weeks ago. We were also worried about the island being very expensive but it wasn’t too bad. We went to Lefkas last year and Santorini the year before that and didn’t notice any huge changes. We stayed in Lassi, which we found to be reasonable. Beer was reasonably priced and most bars do happy hours. We hired a car and went round the whole island and found Fiskardo to be the most expensive area.

Once on island don’t miss to visit Assos, beautiful pictoresque village with special atmosphere, for me it was more impressive than Fiscardo, and of course Melissani Lake and Mytros beach. Argostoli is a nice little town worth seeing, but all beautiful sandy beaches in this part of island are at Lassy, so it might be a perfect combination to stay in Lassi and go to Argostoli by night. Pine-covered hills, crystal waters sparkling in the sunshine, pastel-colored buildings festooned with flowers, Kefalonia is an island of outstanding natural beauty. Here, you’ll find friendly people, good food and a choice of small, unspoiled harbor towns, such as Fiskardo, Assos and Agia Efimia. I highly recommend Kefalonia.
Sixth stay and have already booked our seventh.
The studios are immaculately maintained and kept wonderfully clean inside and out by the onsite team. Welcome pack and free Wi-Fi elevate Oskars above your standard rental to a luxury experience.
Roza and her team always provide excellent service and are a pleasure to deal with.
Can’t wait to be back there.
